California Department of Fish and Wildlife (San Luis Obispo County).
Jodi McGraw Consulting led a team of biological and cultural resource experts to prepare a comprehensive land management plan for the nearly 40,000-acre Carrizo Plain Ecological Reserve. To develop the plan, JMc:
- Synthesized existing information about the property, identified data gaps, and developed new data including by conducting rare plant surveys and a cultural resources inventory;
- Prepared a report documenting the conservation values of the reserve, and factors affecting their conditions;
- Developed a suite of goals for the reserve’s biological resources, cultural resources, public uses, and facilities management;
- Designed management strategies to achieve the goals, including conservation grazing, fire, exotic plant management;
- Developed monitoring protocols for a suite of focal species that can serve as indicators of the diverse ecological systems within the reserve; and
- Conducted outreach to the public to receive feedback on the draft plan.
JMc also assisted the Department with the environmental review process under CEQA.
