Camp Jones Gulch Conservation Plan

Sempervirens Fund and the YMCA of San Francisco (San Mateo County).

Jodi McGraw Consulting developed a conservation plan for the 920-acre YMCA Camp Jones Gulch. JMc developed conservation plan by:

  • Designing a planning process that will provide the information needed to develop the easement, as well as an opportunity for the partners to develop a solid relationship that will promote long-term effectiveness;
  • Preparing a detailed existing conditions report characterizing the property in terms of its biological systems and conservation values, scenic resources, forest resources, and existing and desired future uses as a camp;
  • Developing goals for the conservation, timber harvest, and ongoing camp use within the property, and conducting an analysis of the opportunities and constraints to achieving the goals, including identifying potential conflicts; and
  • Developing a conservation plan designed to achieve the goals and reconcile or balance potential conflicts, to inform preparation of an effective conservation easement for the property.

The conservation plan was used to develop a conservation easement and as the basis for developing a stewardship plan for the property.
